WHAT IS A YOUTH GRANTMAKING BOARD
The Tukwila Children’s Foundation’s (TCF) Youth Grantmaking Board (YGB) was established in the fall of 2020 to help young people use philanthropy to effect positive change in our community. Through training and collaboration with the TCF volunteer board members and community experts, the YGB performs the same functions as other grant committees:assessing community needs, reviewing grant applications, and making final funding recommendations to the TCF Board. The members of the YGB and the focus of the funding is on projects and programs that change every year. The YGB is comprised of 10 students from the Tukwila area who are committed to supporting programs and services that help youth in the City of Tukwila. This year’s Youth Grantmaking Board values more diversity, strong youth voice, and a healthy connection between the school district and city police.
